Millard (Duck) Rachal

by Debbie Rachal Dennington
(Waskom,Texas)

You can shed tears that he is gone,or you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray he'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,or it can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow, and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow, because of yesterday. You can remember only that he is gone, or you can cherish his memory and let it live on. You can cry, close your mind, be empty, and turn your back, or you can do what he'd want, smile, open your eyes, love, live and go on.

love from your lil sis, Debbie

Thanks for your encouraging words in honor of your brother, Millard (Duck) Rachal ! I am planning a memorial service for my church in 2 days. My committee wants to be somewhat upbeat; yet prayerful. Your words are so appropriate. I will (poetically) read them; giving you credit. Additionally, I will give it to each attendee with a purple ribbon tied around the rolled stationery !

Keep Duck's memory forever alive! God bless you.

Gone but not forgetten
by: Brian Thami Hlongwa

I always took it for granted that you will always be around. Like the trees and stars you were supposed to be always there. It never occured to me that one day you will be gone without even bidding farewell. When mummy and daddy left us, for the world beyond, I thought we had an unwritten rule that none of us will abandon each other. I thought we will grow old enough to see our grand children grow into adults that together we will induct into our family culture and traditions, our love for jazz and our passionate support for Kaizer Chiefs and our glorious movement. Somehow I have a sense that you are still around all of us. You may be gone for a while, hence you will never be forgotten. You will continue to live in our hearts and in our minds. Wherever you are, keep it real and do not forget us either.
