Hail, Mary! Full of Grace
The Lord is with Thee:
Blessed art Thou among women,
and Blessed is the Fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God:
Pray for us sinners, now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory.
Amen.
Everlasting God,
you are our refuge and strength,
a helper close at hand, a shelter in time of need.
Help us, O God, to hear your words of comfort,
so that by faith our fears might be dispelled,
our loneliness eased,
and our hope revived.
May your Holy Spirit carry us through our sorrow
into the comfort of your presence which endures
for all eternity,
in Jesus' name. Amen.

Eternal Light,
shine into our hearts.
Eternal Goodness,
deliver us from evil,
Eternal Power,
be our support.
Eternal Wisdom,
scatter the darkness of our ignorance.
Eternal Pity,
have mercy on us,
that with all our heart and mind and soul and strength
we may seek your face
and be brought by infinite mercy
to your holy presence,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
These two funeral prayers are found in the Hymnal: A Worship Book, published by the Mennonite Publishing house. They are numbers 801 and 802
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is doubt, faith ;
where there is despair, hope
where there is darkness, light
where there is sadness, joy
O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
Grief is often one of those times when God can feel hidden and silent. This prayer acknowledges that and offers words to address God in the midst of the silence and darkness.
Hidden God,
in mystery and silence
you are present in our lives,
bringing new life out of death,
hope out of despair.
We thank you that you do not leave us alone
but labor to make us whole.
Help us to perceive your unseen hand
in the unfolding of our lives,
and to attend to the gentle guidance of your Spirit,
that we may know the joy of your love
and rest in your peace. Amen
I found this prayer in the Hymnal: A Worship Book. It is number 745.
Lord,
I thank you for everything that happened to me during post election violence in Kenya. Lord, I forgive them for taking my property and vandalizing my house because they do not know what they do. Help them to realize the mistake they did and to know that you are aware of everything and I am your child.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
